Ndolwa Water Project + Shuffleboard for Sanitation Event

Empower Tanzania has been working diligently to prepare for a new water project for Ndolwa, a mountain village in rural Tanzania (Same District). We are partnering with Rural Water and Sanitation Authority (RUWASA), Engineers Without Borders (Chicago Chapter), WaterAid, and Ndolwa community leaders to move this critical project forward. All of our partners are committed to bringing clean and safe water to Ndolwa while we work through multiple phases of planning and implementation together.

RUWASA, in Tanzania, has Ndolwa as their number one engineering priority for the district! The goal is to get the system engineered and sized for the entire catchment area, approximately 4,000 people, for the next 20 years. Engineers Without Borders - Chicago is involved with fundraising, engineering, and project management. WaterAid will be providing support in a variety of areas as well. This project wouldn’t be possible without these partnerships and the expertise of each organization. We are so grateful for their dedication to the details and look forward to continued coordination throughout the multiple project phases over the next couple of years.

We are arranging a site visit at the end of October 2024 and planning for all key partners to attend. RUWASA is currently working on engineering the entire Ndolwa catchment system, which will then be reviewed by both RUWASA and EWB. After this is completed, we will all continue project planning to break work into phases and community mobilization. The first phase is planned to start in early 2025 with the following phases continuing until anticipated project completion in 2027.

Empower Tanzania and Engineers Without Borders will be partnering for extended fundraising efforts for this project. We are seeking financial support to make clean water in Ndolwa a reality and launching with an upcoming event for the Ndolwa Water Project this fall! Save the date for our first fundraiser with Engineers Without Borders!
